The Village Hall
Little Wenlock Village Hall – Winter 2020 COVID Restrictions
Following national guidance, we have closed the village hall from 5th November for anything other than training and activities supporting the NHS.
The playing field will, however, continue to remain open for outdoor exercise, but not sports, and with only one person from another household .
We are taking a responsible and balanced approach to hall usage after the latest lockdown, based on risk and the social value of specific community activities.
- Tier 2:
Under the High Alert level we will be no more restrictive to hall use than the cautious approach taken since the first lockdown was lifted in the summer. All activities taking place ahead of the November lockdown will be able to continue providing users maintain strict guidance on the wearing of face masks and social distancing throughout.
The hall will continue to remain closed for all private social functions, and any new group bookings will only be accepted after careful consideration.
- Tier 3:
Under the Very High Alert level, use will have to be more restricted – depending on any specific rules agreed for the Telford & Wrekin area. As a baseline, we will not permit activities beyond a core of exceptions that support children, healthcare or vital social needs – primarily for our own community. Non-core group activities will, unfortunately, not be permitted.
Its particular social importance means Lunch can continue (unless local rules stipulate closure of all restaurants and community centres). We will also take appropriate advice on whether Indoor Bowls can continue.
Children’s after school sessions will also be treated as exceptions, together with first aid and NHS training.
We reserve the right to close the hall completely or for specific activities at any time on the advice of local or national guidance.
Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to much better times ahead.

Our new hall was completed in the summer of 2002 at a cost of £310,000 and is an excellent, modern, versatile facility. It was built with generous grant aid from the National Lottery Community Fund and Onyx Environmental Trust, together with direct fund raising throughout the community.
The main hall is approximately 15m x 10m and is complemented by a carpeted committee room approximately 6m x 7m.
There is a demountable stage and tables and chairs for 120.
The hall is currently used for a variety of community clubs and activities, including fairs, live theatre, concerts and dances.
It is also hired out for children’s parties, weddings, conferences and other events.
The Hall is an independent charity - no. 1080317 - built and run by volunteer members of the community.
If you would like to hire the hall for your meeting or party please go to the Bookings page.
